I've gone back-and-forth on whether or not I wanted to see this. When I first saw the previews, I couldn't wait. And then I heard terrible reviews. But Blockbuster is running a special promotion right now, so I grabbed it.
I liked it, except that it's clearly set up for the sequel and you feel rather let down because of that. Especially since I think it's still up in the air as to whether the sequel is actually going to be made.
It spooked me a bit, which surprised me. The entire time I was waiting for something to jump out at me. I don't particularly enjoy that feeling.
And some of it was kind of sloppy... this is yet another movie I've seen this year that is based on a book and I hope that the storyline in that was done better.
Overall though, I enjoyed it. It doesn't hurt that Alex Pettyfer is a great new find. I'm hoping he shows up on my screen a lot in the near future.
