The Adjustment Bureau

It seems like I've been seeing previews for this movie for a very long time. And I gotta say, it was well worth the wait. Brilliant, and damn-near perfect.

The brilliance is that it's a tricky little story with twists and turns, but it's explained so incredibly well. That's what sets this apart from a movie like Inception (which I loved, by the way). You don't leave this movie confused. And, it has an actual ending.

The best part was that it made you question the workings of fate and it left you wondering, but at no point in time did it venture into creepiness.

Matt Damon was charming and very relatable, even though he was portaying a flawed politician while Emily Blunt (with that incredible accent) was simply delightful. Terence Stamp was foreboding and authoritative (not nearly aas wishy-washy as Chancellor Valorum. Gotta get a Star Wars reference in whenever I can!)

John Slattery gave an incredibly nuanced performance. Oscar-nomination worthy if you ask me. (You heard it here first.) You almost got the sense that his character was just going through the motions of his job and he pulled that off without making it seem like Slattery himself was just going through the motions. He had resigned himself to the rules of his job and he wouldn't let himself question anything because he might not ike the answer.

Great casting, all around. Anthony Mackie was great as well. And the cameos were well-placed within the story. This might be one of the best movies I've ever seen. It was based on (surprise, surprise) a short story that I'm going to have to get my hands on.

I'll be crossing my fingers when the nominations come out. Hopefully the timing of the release won't hurt it's chances.
